Fight Winter Dry Skin- 3 DIY Masks

Do you want the secrets to maintaining baby-soft skin even in the darkest months of the year? We have a few to share with you. As winter has made its full appearance our skin has gone beyond flaky to make-up cakey. Here are a few favorite DIY face masks we use weekly to fight off dry, cracked winter skin. The best part of these super moisturizing masks is that they can be made with products you already have hiding away somewhere in the house and kitchen!

All of these masks can be made by combining ingredients in a small bowl and mixing them into a paste. They can be left on for 10-20 minutes and used once or twice per week.

Mask one: Banana Honey Ingredients: 1 medium banana, 1/4 cup of plain greek yogurt, 2 tbsps honey This mask not only smells amazing but works as an acne fighter and moisturizer. Honey has been known to be a natural remedy for pimples while the banana, full of vitamin E and C, soothes and along with the yogurt hydrates.  Mask two: Lemon Coconut  Ingredients: The juice of one lemon, 1/4 cup coconut oil While the acidity from lemon can be drying, when adding oils the effect is refreshing and moisturizing. Coconut oil is full of saturated fats that have incredible effects for both skin and hair without leaving you feeling greasy. 

Mask three: Oat Milk

Ingredients: Oat powder (can be bought or made by blending oats), milk powder (can be bought), 2 tbsps honey, and two or three drops of essential oil

This mask is our favorite of all three. It not only moisturizes but exfoliates as well. Getting rid of the top layer of dead skin will help to eliminate dryness all week. Our favorite oil addition is the Mona Botanicals Jasmine Chamomile Face Oil which can be found on our website. It adds an enticing scent while hydrating and calming the skin to combat the exfoliating grains found in the powders. The oat powder acts as a redness reducer and due to the gentleness of this mask it can be applied up to a few times per week.
